Preetu Habit Tracker — Privacy Policy

Preetu Habit Tracker

Privacy Policy · Effective 20 August 2026 · Last updated 20 August 2026

1. Who this policy is from

This privacy policy explains how the Preetu Habit Tracker mobile application ("the app", "we", "us") handles information. It applies to the app distributed through Google Play under the package name com.preetu.habittracker.

The app is offered as a personal, offline productivity tool. By using the app you agree to the handling of information described here.

2. Information we collect

We do not collect any personal or sensitive user data.

The app has no user accounts, no registration, no login, and no server component. We never ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, location, or any other identifier. Because no information is transmitted from your device, we have no ability to see, receive, store, or access anything you enter into the app.

  • Personal identifiers: not collected.
  • Contact information: not collected.
  • Location data: not collected.
  • Photos, media, and files: not accessed.
  • Contacts, calendar, call logs, SMS: not accessed.
  • Device or advertising identifiers: not collected.
  • Usage analytics or crash telemetry: not collected.
  • Payment or financial information: not collected.

3. Information the app stores on your device

So the app can remember your progress between sessions, the following is written to the app's own private storage area on your device:

  • The habits you create — their name, emoji, colour, schedule, daily target, unit, and any optional note you add.
  • Your completion history — which days you marked each habit complete, and how many repetitions you logged.
  • Your app preferences — for example your light or dark theme choice, and whether you have seen this notice.

4. Where that data lives

This data is held in the app's private sandbox, an area of storage that Android reserves for this app alone. Other apps on your device cannot read it. It is never uploaded to us or to anyone else, because the app has no way to transmit it.

If you have Android Backup enabled in your device settings, Android may include this app's data in the encrypted backup held in your own Google account, exactly as it does for other apps. That backup is controlled entirely by you and by Google under Google's privacy policy; we have no access to it. You can disable it in your device settings at any time.

5. Permissions the app requests

None. Preetu Habit Tracker requests no Android runtime permissions at all — no camera, microphone, location, contacts, storage, or notification access — and it deliberately removes the INTERNET permission from its release build. You can verify this yourself in the app listing on Google Play under "App permissions", or by inspecting the installed package.

Because the app holds no internet permission, it is technically incapable of sending your information off the device.

For completeness: if you inspect the package you will see a single entry named DYNAMIC_RECEIVER_NOT_EXPORTED_PERMISSION. That is a signature-level permission the standard Android support libraries add automatically so that an app's own internal broadcasts stay private to itself. It grants no access to your device or your data, it is never shown to you as a permission request, and only this app can hold it.

6. Third-party services and SDKs

The app contains no advertising networks, no analytics services, no crash-reporting services, no social network integrations, and no tracking libraries. It does not use Google Analytics, Firebase, AdMob, or any comparable service.

The only third-party code is the open-source Flutter framework and its standard local-storage plugin, which run entirely on your device and make no network requests on our behalf. Open-source licences are listed inside the app under Settings → Open-source licences.

7. Children's privacy

The app is suitable for a general audience and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). Since no data is collected or transmitted at all, no information about a child can be gathered through the app.

The app contains no advertising, no in-app purchases, no chat or social features, and no links that lead outside the app.

8. How to delete your data

You are in full control of everything the app stores. You can:

  • Delete a single habit, along with its history, by opening that habit and choosing Delete.
  • Erase everything at once from Settings → Delete all my data. This permanently removes every habit and every log entry from your device.
  • Uninstall the app, which removes all of its stored data from your device.

9. Exporting your data

Settings → Export my data produces a readable copy of your habits and history in JSON format, which you can copy to your clipboard and save wherever you choose. Nothing is uploaded during export — the copy is created on your device and handed to you.

Once you paste that export somewhere else, it is governed by whatever app or service you paste it into, not by this policy.

10. Data retention

We retain nothing, because we receive nothing. Data you create stays on your device for as long as you keep the app installed and choose to keep it, and disappears when you delete it or uninstall the app.

11. Security

Your habit data is protected by the standard application sandboxing and full-disk encryption that Android provides. Keeping your device locked with a PIN, pattern, or biometric is the most effective way to keep this data private.

Because nothing is transmitted or stored on a server, there is no remote database that could be breached.

12. Your rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export, and delete personal data held about you. Since we hold no data about you, these rights are satisfied directly within the app: your data is already in your hands, you can view and edit it freely, export it in a portable format, and delete it irreversibly whenever you want.

We do not sell or share personal information, because we do not have any.

13. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the updated version will ship with a new release of the app and the notice will be shown to you again the next time you open it. The "last updated" date at the top of this screen always reflects the current version.

14. Contact

If you have any question about this policy or about how the app handles information, please get in touch at mpreetham2026@gmail.com. We aim to respond to every enquiry within a few working days.
